No Service for “Gay” Dogs

(From the Daily Mail) “An Australian restaurant has been fined after turning a blind customer away because they thought his guide dog was gay… Staff had misheard the woman with Mr Jolly, and believed that his ‘guide dog’ Nudge was in fact a ‘gay dog’.” Read more

Since the incident Nudge has declined to comment on the details of his sexual orientation.

Gendering the Genderless

Norrie May-Welby of New South Wales, Australia made headlines recently when zie became the world’s first legally genderless person. However, this victory was short lived. The NSW Attorney-General’s office has reversed their decision, rendering the official documentation issued to Norrie, with “non-specified” listed under gender, as fraudulent.

Norrie’s blog makes it clear that zie is ready to fight this. “I’m trying to give everyone a space to be themselves and live their life without being tied down by a label that’s unnecessary.” Read more
