Fight Fire… With Boobies!

Thanks, Huffpost, for the highlight of my day if not my whole adult life, ever!

How you like THEM apples, churchladies? Hrm... not so much apples as ... you know what, I got better places for my foot than my mouth.

When the local church down your street makes a point of protesting your gentlmen’s club all the time, take down people’s license plates, and stalk them with questions about “does your family know you come here?”, you could cower and close shop.

Or you, as a gainfully and legally employed individual can tell them to go to the same hell they think anyone but their narrowminded asses is headed for. My favorite part about this story is how sympathetic even some of the congregation is and brings the ladies cookies! Even the church further up the road thinks their brethren and sistren are outta line here.

Jesus is so BIG… It’s a little uncomfortable

Lutheran Church ends anti-gay policies

Posted in Religion with tags , , , , , , , on April 19, 2010 by Chase

One can only hope someday others will follow suit. I optimistically envision a large rainbow snowball rolling down a mountain…

(From HuffingtonPost) “After twenty-five years of deliberation, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Church Council has abolished its anti-gay policies, effective immediately. Following from discussions at the ELCA Churchwide Assembly last summer, the ELCA will now allow people in same-sex relationships to serve as rostered leaders. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) human beings are no longer considered abominations but blessed church members with full standing. Same-sex partners and families can now fully participate in the ELCA Pension Plan.” Read more

In December, Rev. Canon Mary Douglas Glasspool was elected Bishop by the Episcopal Church’s Los Angeles diocese. On Wednesday she was confirmed!

That makes her the second openly homosexual Bishop (along with Rev. V. Gene Robinson) and also one of two female Bishops (along with Bishop-elect Diane M. Jardine Bruce) in the church’s history. Woot!

(From CNN) “The Episcopal Church confirmed its first openly lesbian bishop on Wednesday, six years after its first openly gay bishop took office. “I am profoundly grateful for the many people … who have given their prayers, love, and support during this time of discernment,” Bishop-elect Mary Douglas Glasspool said after learning she’d won support from the majority of her church’s standing committees and diocesan bishops” Read more

Did you fill out the Sexual Freedom Survey?

If not, YOU BETTER, or SiP will hunt you down and take away your sexy license.

Take the survey now!!!!

Let’s start the New Year off in a proactive way, by adding your voice to the Sexual Freedom Report!

This questionnaire will be the foundation for the first report on the State of Sexual Freedom in America today.  If you already responded to the questionnaire, and many of you have, thank you!  If not, we would really value your opinions!

As I shared with you in the first email, the Woodhull Freedom Foundation plans to publish regular reports on the sexual freedom movement, designed to help identify the social changes taking place, or that must take place for progress to be made, on the diverse issues on which we work. We are particularly interested in recognizing opportunities for already-established sexual freedom issue groups to work together.

We would like to know what you think are the most pressing sexual freedom issues this country is facing and so we are asking for a bit of your time and a lot of your knowledge and expertise.

We will treat your responses as confidential, unless you specifically give us permission to share your comments.  To protect the confidentiality of our participants, we will download the responses each day and they will be taken completely offline.  With that assurance, we are also asking that you provide your contact information on the survey.

I do hope that you’ll take some time right now to respond to the questionnaire.  What you think really does matter to us and to this project.

Please click here or at the link below to begin the survey.

Thanks for your time and your participation!

PS:  Please make sure to give us an email address in the questionnaire so that we can email you a copy of the completed report immediately prior to its public release.

Death Penalty still on for Uganda

Looks like Rachel can keep calling it the “Kill the Gays” bill…

(From the Guardian) “(David Bahati, the bill’s main sponsor) denied reports that international pressure might result in parts of the bill being toned down.” Read more

“For Ugandans such as Pastor Martin Ssempa, who organises anti-gay rallies, the bill brings legitimate moral force to bear on the “corrupting influence” from western societies.” Which is ironic, considering the heavy American influence behind anti-gay events in Uganda and the drafting of this bill. It’s also curious that the “international pressure” they’re now choosing to ignore is coming from the same place.

“The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles has elected a lesbian as assistant bishop, the second openly gay bishop in the global Anglican fellowship, which is already deeply fractured over the first.”

“The Rev. Mary Glasspool of Baltimore needs approval from a majority of dioceses across the church before she can be consecrated as assistant bishop in the Los Angeles diocese.” Read more
